ESSENTIAL GUIDES

Ferries

Getting there is half the fun with ferry rides around Australia. Whether you’re crossing the Bass Strait or getting around the inner suburbs of Sydney, ferries can take you to a number of destinations on the Aussie ‘must see’ map.

While you might think of buses or trains as the main mode of public transport, people are finding that getting from place to place by ferry is often a much smarter way of doing things. Avoid the hassle of finding a bridge to cross, stopping at the toll booth or putting up with noisy road rage by taking a ferry whenever you can. Instead of noisy city streets and traffic-jammed cars in the background, you’ll be surrounded by peaceful waters and comfy chairs. If this sounds good, check out the local public transport timetable to find out when and where to catch your next ferry!

At the other end of the spectrum, luxury ferries are designed for pure indulgence on your way to some of Australia’s most sought after holiday destinations. This means you can start to relax as soon as you step on board, with some vessels equipped with state of the art sound and visual equipment, licensed bars, dance floors, playrooms for the kids and sometimes gambling facilities. If you’re going offshore, you might as well do it in style!
