ESSENTIAL GUIDES

Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay Accommodation

If you are tired of hotels or hostels and crave the comforts of home, then finding an alternative is not difficult in Australia.

Give Bed and Breakfast a go if you enjoy the company of hosts and the advantage of local knowledge.

B&B facilities are popular in Australia, with most cities and major towns boasting a range of rooms and settings. Charming bedrooms among manicured gardens, rustic log cabins perfect for a couple and inner city digs near public transport are among the choices.

A traditional B&B will offer a continental or cooked breakfast to get the day started, and private bathrooms are standard. Other Bed & Breakfast’s offer self contained cooking facilities and rooms may be completely separate from the main dwelling. It is worth checking before you book, so you get what you wanted.

If you have children or are desperate to get back to nature, a farmstay is an entertaining way to spend a few days. Do as little or as much as you want – try milking the cows, collect fresh eggs or simply take in the country air and explore the property. You can stay in the wilds of the north and get dusty on a cattle station. Or lend a hand and pick fruit at an orchard in the cool south.
