‘Beautiful one day, perfect the next’ ……. So goes Queensland’s most well known catchcry. And boy does this state live up to it ! Boasting almost year-round sunshine, tropical conditions and some of Australia’s most stunning beaches, Queensland is the capital of sun, sea and glitz in Australia.
Queensland offers visitors an amazing array of experiences and environments - the stunning Great Barrier Reef, the Gold Coast’s sandy beaches and aptly named Surfer’s Paradise, rugged outback vistas and exotic tropical rainforests, all packed into one state.
If its action, adrenaline or adventure you’re seeking, then Queensland offers enough heart-pounding, thrill seeking experiences than you can fit into just one holiday. In Queensland you can bungee, snorkel, swim with sharks, tour on the back of a Harley, sandboard down some of the largest island dunes in the board or hit the rapids and get your blood racing. Hit the water, aim for the sky or eat dirt - there’s more than a thrill-a-minute on offer !
For a different kind of thrill, Queensland is home to some of Australia’s best amusement parks– watching dolphins, swimming with sharks, seeing movie magic come to life or having your heart in your mouth on the tower of terror are all waiting for you on the sunshine coast.
For those more interested in an eco-friendly holiday, Queensland invites you to truly get close to nature. Get up close and personal with the Aussie wildlife – hold a koala, pat a kangaroo or tempt fate and have a go at feeding the crocodiles ! Or trek into the rainforests to see native animals in the wild in some of the most rugged and awe-inspiring world heritage listed areas of the world.
The Tropical North is where rainforest meets reef, and is teeming with wildlife, amazing scenery and superb opportunities to relax, unwind and commune with nature.
Explore Queensland’s rainforests by 4WD or hit the trails and bushwalk your way through Australia’s natural heritage. Most of Queensland boasts magnificent rainforests, and the Mackay region even offers the opportunity to spot the unique Aussie platypus in its natural habitat.
Outback Queensland offers a wonderful mix of history, hospitality and fun. If an Aussie outback experience is what you crave, slap on your akubra hat and drizabone and head east into Queensland’s country plains. Stay on a traditional Aussie outback station, have a beer or two at the local pub or fossick for opals in the sun-drenched red dirt. If you like a bet or two then try out some of the state’s more unique outback races - join the popular camel racing circuit, cheer (or groan) at the results of the Eulo World Lizard racing Carnival, or back the winner of the Kajabbi Yabby races.
Wonderful, wild and welcoming – once you start exploring Queensland you’ll never want to stop !
